Antonio Escobar MD, PhD leads a multidisciplinary group composed of 9 members (physicians, biostatisticians and pharmacists) with 15 years of experience. The group holds stable relationships with the other network groups as well as with groups outside the same. Areas of expertise are: patient reported outcomes measurement, with emphasis in creation, validation and longitudinal use of questionnaires; quality of care, working on appropriateness, prioritization, utilization, continuity of care and outcomes; risk stratification, predictive and prognostic risk models and research methodology, with the development and application of statistical tools and mathematical models aimed at problems that arise in health services research. The group also led the study of variability in mental health. The group maintains lines on preventive practices in primary care, its variability, causes and consequences and continuity of care, centered in the behaviour of chronic patients in aspects related to health promotion, prevention of dependence, with attention to the integration of care levels and the health-social interaction space. Finally, economic evaluation focused on the evaluation of efficiency, use of modelling techniques, pharmacoeconomic health outcomes measurement and development of new methodologies in cost-effectiveness analysis. From 2009, the group has published 88 articles. The group has participated in 17 research projects funded competitively, in 10 as PI.
