Group description and Members
The AIAQS group coordinated by Dr. Joan Escarrabill is made up of 10 researchers from different backgrounds (4 PhD, 3 MD, 2 BA, 1 nurse), including chest physicians, general practitioners, geriatricians, psychologists, nurses, epidemiologists, biostaticians and political scientists. The main areas of expertise in the health services research related to chronicity and chronic care are: a) Healthcare models for patients with respiratory diseases with special emphasis on integrated care, cost-effectiveness of alternatives to hospitalization, alternatives in the care and long-term follow-up of patients with sleep disorders; b) Healthcare registries and risk-adjustment analysis for clinical interventions effectiveness in chronic diseases; c) Development and implementation of priority setting tools related to surgical waiting lists: d) Predictive models for risk-stratifications in chronicity and prediction of fragility fractures; and e) Geriatric care, centred in falls risk. Group 4 collaborates with groups: 1, 3, 9 and 10. Along the period 2009-2012 the group published 19 papers in peer-view journals (12 with IF). Along the same period the group has participated in 7 public-competitive research projects (4 at international level), in 4 of them being either IP of the project or of one WP. The group 4 has previously collaborated with groups 1, 3, 9 and 10. The group has participated in 13 transfer products, including clinical guidelines (CPG), evaluation reports, white papers, web-based platforms, clinical indicators and decision-aids tools.

Health Services Evaluation in the hip and knee arthroplasties.   Study coordinated by  ESSARC-CIBERESP and PRESS-UP, funded by ISCIII.
Validation of the FRAX® predictive model for major osteoporotic fracture in a historical cohort of Spanish women (2009-2010). Study funded by Quality Plan for the National Health System of Spain.
