Programme 2: comparative effectiveness and cost-effectiveness in chronic care

WP1 Comparing clinical interventions

(Responsible Dra. Isabel Hurtado)

  1. Conducting comparative studies on interventions implemented in highly prevalent chronic conditions (e.g., CHF, COPD, Osteoarthritis and Osteoporosis, Colorectal Cancer or Breast Cancer).
  2. Conducting comparative studies on interventions on multimorbid and fragile patients.

WP2 Comparing organizational interventions and policies

(Responsible Dra. Lilisbeth Perestelo)

  4. Conducting comparative studies on policies implemented at regional level.

WP3 Methods to enhance evaluative research

(Responsible Dr Antonio Escobar)

  2. Adapting or developing methods to reduce misclassification bias (e.g., methods to treat missing values, identification of clustering phenomena, etc.).
  3. Adapting or developing methods to reduce selection bias (e.g., propensity score matching, instrumental variables, etc.).
  4. Adapting or developing techniques to enhance analytical capacity and overcome risks associated to the use of real world data.
  5. Developing guidance on how to improve comparability (e.g., decisions on counterfactuals, decisions on providers, etc.).
  6. Adapting or developing methods to involve stakeholders in comparative effectiveness research (e.g., patient referred outcomes, patients’ perspective, decision aids).
